OTOL New England RailFes

January 18-20, 2013

Created 4/13/12; Updated 1/21/13

OTOL New England RailFest 2013 was our winter activity in January 2013. The intent was to ride the Lowell Line, the only MBTA commuter rail line until then not yet officially covered by our group. Also did the new commuter rail extension south of Providence, RI to T.F. Green Airport and Wickford Junction. We also rode one of the Old Colony lines.

It was not possible to do the Downeaster extension to Brunswick as a Fest group at this time. However, we took a short turn trip on the Downeaster on Saturday afternoon as far as Wells, ME.

Sunday we elected to do an all-rapid transit day, riding as much of the system as we could. The chosen itinerary gave us enough time to ride the entire Red and Green Lines, including the Mattapan Trolley and all branches of the Green Line. In addition we covered the Blue Line on Saturday afternoon.
